New Delhi

New Delhi: -

New Delhi is the Washington of India, a capital city with a staid provincial air that boasts broad, stately boulevards, grand vistas of awe-inspiring monuments, and an abundance of bureaucrats and politicians. It is a place where the history of India -- from the time of the Mughal emperors, through the British Raj, and into the post-independence era -- is visible everywhere, like the layers of an archeological dig. The best way to get a feel for the city, particularly the buildings that were designed and laid out by the architect Edwin Lutyens during the Raj.This is India Gate, the giant archway that is Delhi's Arc de Triomphe, a memorial to the 90,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in World War I. One of the spokes of the wheel of streets that spin out from India Gate, Rajpath, leads to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India, once the British Viceroy's house.

This is the Rashtrapati Bhawan or say "The White House of India"the official residence of the The Honourable President of India the "Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces." Built and designed by french architect and Engineer Sir Lutyens ,a very grcefully created piece of creativity and utmost reality of this sprawling mansion which is no doubt a pride of India.

This is a picture of the magnificient building in the evening of the Republic Day Parade on 26th January. The day when India became a Republic. The feelings of patriotism automatically arises in you and the emotions run high for the country when someone sees this magnificient piece of architecture.
